DJ & Toyota Teaming Up in 2007

First I want to wish all the wonderful Mother's out there a Happy Mother's Day.

Now, onto business:

Well as everyone probably knows by now, DJ will be joining Toyota and Michael Waltrip in 2007 for his last two years in racing. Was this a smart move for DJ? There are so many opinions out there but the one that really matters is DJ's. Remember, this is his career and the path he is choosing for the remainder of his career.

DJ is not having the success that all of us want to see as a member of RYR. Let us look at the big picture, the Yates teams are just not performing. This is not to say it is the drivers, it is far from it. They have the engines, just look at the Roush cars and how well they are performing. It is the dynamics of the cars that Yates are developing. DJ said at the end of last year that they have alot of work to do with the new Fusion and the downforce issues. You would think they would of listened to Dale but obiviously they didn't.

I will be a DJ fan no matter what kind of car he drives. Just because it is not a Ford, doesn't make him a bad driver, he is doing what is best for his family and his career. Toyota will gain a lot from his experience and background. DJ is not doing it for the money, unlike what alot of people think. DJ does not need the money and he does the sport because of the love he has for racing. Perhaps other drivers and athletes should take lessons from DJ.

DJ...I am behind you 110% and you will always be my driver! Guess next year I have to redesign my site due to all the new Toyota stuff coming down line...LOL

Well everyone, have a wonderful day!!!

Tom

Thanks for stopping by Full Throttle Tom. I noticed you are Retired USN.

I finished my 20 in March 2001 and to be honest I don't miss it too much.

Tom, you seem like such a nice guy. A lot of other DJ fans are fuming right now, and throwing away their #88 stuff. It says something for your character that you're sticking by your driver no matter what!

I agree about Yates cars, of course...as a Sadler fan, I'm having a really tough time watching what they're going through on the track. Hearing on TrackPass how E's crew chief wasn't really listening to him at all made me sense that perhaps the chemistry over there between people isn't right, and I can tell that the car-building isn't going right, either. *sigh* It's a hard time to be an RYR fan.

I'll admit to you that I'm not thrilled about the move to Toyota - or, least, Toyota's move to NASCAR - but DJ is a good guy, and a great champion. I think that whether I like Toyota coming in or not that DJ is perfect for the job.

I will always be a DJ fan no matter what he drives. I understand people don't want to see Toyota come in due to Nascar being one of those American sports, I can agree with that.

I find it hard to believe all these DJ fans talking about like what you said, throwing away their 88 stuff...does that mean they will throw away their Quality Care stuff when he went to UPS? No!!! It is all about Toyota.

Whether fans like it or not, Toyota is coming. Look what they are doing in the Truck Series. I think the other teams are afraid of what Toyota will bring to the track.

I've said it a lot, whatever DJ feels is best for him, I'm cool with.

I am, though, becoming exteremely interested about how they, (Toyota in general) are going to run next year. It should be interesting.

Dale Jarrett's switch to Toyota has left a lot of people distressed including Ford Racing Division. But, I have not heard anyone mention all of the employees at the huge Dale Jarrett Ford dealership in Indian Trail, NC just outside of Charlotte!

Or how about the hundreds of people who bought a Ford product there because it was Dale Jarrett's dealership! Or the owners of DJ's diner inside of the dealership! I think he has let a lot of nice people down and I for one no longer think very much of him and think greed got its way with DJ.

Hey anonymous, many, many drivers own dealerships that sell manufacturers other than those they drive for.

I doubt anything will happen to the dealership in Indian Trail.

Also, I'm sure you feel a little jipped for buying a car from there, but drivers switching teams and manufacturers is just a part of the sport.

DJ did what he feels is best for him; no one can fault him for that.

I agree with you Race Chick. The sport is changing and I know DJ did what was best for his family and himself. I know it wasn't about the money, he is not hurting in that area so I can count that as NOT one of the reasons DJ left RYR.

I don't have a problem with Jarrett Leaving Yates or driving Toyota. I do have a problem with him going to MWR when his notoriety will be used on a Company that has no merit yet. I think Jarrett is an awesome driver, but MWR doesn't represent his level of achievment or experience.

Everybody thinks Toyota is gonna come out of the garage spanking ass, In todays Nascar it just doesn't work that way....

Thanks for everything you did for me over the weekend. I will thank you in my own way!

Love you!

In the long run I think Dale and MWR made the best choice. Toyota is throwing payola around as they do with ALL their racing adventures. Why not set one of the nicest and respected drivers up for retirement and as well as his sons future as well. If you ask me it was a smart as hell win/win situtation for both parties. Dale sets himself of for the rest of his career driving and etc. MWR and Toyota has a Proven Champion as well as the champions provisional guaaranteeing his TOYOTA a spot in every race. Brilliant Mikey, er Mr. Waltrip. So I guess all the "poofy" hair IS covering a good brain. Oh hell I forgot, Buffy is the boss and the brains behind the operation( hope wifey sees that).
